The sad passing of Kate Ferrier

We had a very sad start to the year with the news that our friend and colleague Kate Ferrier passed away on 31st December.

Kate was a volunteer with CAG for over 5 years and shortly after joining she took up the post as Secretary. Kate’s passing is a huge loss to CAG and we miss her immensely.  She was kind, caring and full of fun; her absence is greatly felt.

If you had the pleasure of meeting Kate and being in her company, you would know that she was very sociable and loved being out and about. It was when she retired and had a bit more time that she decided that she wanted to volunteer. Kate was drawn to CAG as her own father was supported our charity following a diagnosis of an  asbestos related disease. While we mourn her passing, we are thankful for having had the privilege of knowing Kate and her commitment and dedication to supporting victims of asbestos exposure will never be forgotten.

We have extended our heartfelt condolences to Kate’s family, especially her husband Gordon and her daughter Laura. We know how much CAG meant to Kate and this was displayed by her wish for a collection to be raised for CAG following her passing.

At her funeral on 16th January an amazing £1,750 was donated to CAG. In addition, we also received a donation from Corpus Christie Primary in Knightswood where Kate had retired from 6 years ago. They had held a non-uniform day in Kate’s memory and raised an additional £271.06.  An incredible amount of money that will continue our fight for Truth and Justice.
